Tue 24th June 2025, Thornton Promenade
The 4th race in the Inter-Club Series was held on a blustery evening. 63 brave Harriers took to the start line for this 5 mile out and back course along the promenade.
From a total field of 290 runners Rob Danson was the first harrier home, finishing 2nd overall in 26:03 (a brilliant effort after his 1st place finish at Freckleton half marathon just 2 days earlier). Also having great runs with a top 10 finish were Luke Suffolk, 4th overall and 1st U23 in 26:59, Patrick Brown 7th overall in 27:03. The team also consisting of Martin Phillips 28:14, Andy Cottam 29:15, Russ Mullen 29:33, Josh Parratt 29:41, Chris McCarthy 31:05, Chris Williams 31:19 and Stuart Nixon 31:31.
Mark Lee also ran well after his half marathon to take top spot in the V60 category with 32:04 and in addition Alan Appleby 1st V75 in 43:19. It has to be said that everyone in the Mens squad ran strong, but on this occasion, they were nudged into 2nd team place by Wesham.
In the Women’s race it was a slightly different picture with the Ladies team all finishing in the top 10 to secure the top team spot. 1st Lady overall was Emma Navesey who romped home in 29:52, supported by Katie Littlefair 32:43, Emma Watson 32:59, Mel Metcalf 33:54 and Loren Dawson 34:19.
Proving that age is not an obstacle the Ladies also took a raft of individual wins, Kate Traynor 1st F45 35:49, Liz Horne 1st F50 36:41, Jane Hodkinson 1st F60 38:06, Maureen Kirby 1st F70 48:54.
Overall, another good, enjoyable night of running with everyone playing their part and representing the Club.
