Wesham Inter-Club

Thank you to Cathy and Dougie for providing the text below 😊

Close to 60 harriers turned out for the latest Inter Club race organised by Wesham on a surprisingly dry evening.

Whilst the number of Harriers racing were down on previous races (as we enter the holiday season) it was apparent that other clubs had the same challenges with a total of 270 completing the revised 4.2 miles course.

That said, to say that Preston totally dominated would not be an understatement, walking away with team wins in every category and individual wins for Rob Danson 1st Male (21:15), Luke Suffolk 1st U23 (22:25), Jamie Robinson 1st Female (25:30), David Lea 1st V60 (26:02), Liz Horne 1st F45 (28:46), Cathy Flitcroft 1st F60 (29:35), Alan Appleby 1st V75 (34:30), Maureen Kirby 1st F70 (39:12).

With regards the team performances in addition to Rob and Luke mentioned above, Sam Evans (3rd, 22:02), Wes Wilkinson (4th, 22:15), Martin Phillips (23:11), Andy Cottam (23:42), Gethin Butler (23:58), Josh Parratt (24:14), Chris Williams (24:46) and Steve Hallas (24:53) brought the Mens team home in first position.

In the Women, In addition to Jamie mentioned above the other Ladies who scored for the team were Michelle Chadwick (2nd, 25:46), Emma Watson (3rd, 26:57) who is quickly recovering her fitness after a spell of injury, Katie Littlefair (4th, 27:25) superbly balancing road racing with her 800m track races and Charlotte Gregory (7th, 28:35) ran strongly to deliver another victory.

The F40+ category has been the one area where other clubs have previously had the edge over Preston, but not this time! In addition to Liz and Cathy mentioned above, Sharon Wilkinson (31:12), Kim Slater (31:54) and Heidi Wallis (35:19) ran amazingly to bring the team home first.

In terms of other team wins the Harriers secured first place in:

Vets - Andy, Gethin, Steve H, Stuart Nixon (24:57), Jamie and Gareth Fairclough (25:59)

Vets 50+ Gethin, Steve H, David L and Norman Hayhurst (27:13)

Vets 60+ David L, Norman and Dave Flitcroft (28:56)

Lots of amazing performances from not just those named above but by many more Harriers who ran well, finished strong and helped secure these wins by chasing down those from other clubs ahead of them. #Everyonecounts

Just 2 more Inter Club events to come - Astley Park , Chorley on 14th August, 7:30pm start and Worden Park, Leyland on 4th September, 7pm start.

Would be great if we can continue to see the 'sea of blue' for the last fixtures.
