Sat/Sun 1 & 2 June 2019, Manchester Preston Harriers had their best ever Northern Senior & Under 20 Championships, winning 5 gold medals, 2 silvers and 4 bronzes.
Matthew Wigelsworth had a brilliant weekend winning double gold in the 800m and 1500m senior championships recording times of 1.52.55 and 3.52.87 respectively. Matthew led home a Harriers 1, 2, 3 in the 1500m with Tiarnan Crorken taking the silver and Dan Bebbington the bronze in 3.54.00 and 3.54.53 respectively. Dan went on to take bronze in the 800m (1.53.57).
Hurdler Curtis Mitchell, returning from injury, won a keenly contested race to secure gold in the 110m senior hurdles championship with a time of 14.78 secs. Gold was also won by Kirsty Fraser in the 800m senior ladies event posting a time of 2.09.33. Senior Andy Benson won a silver medal in the 5000m with a time of 14.53.33. Sophie Warden is steadily improving her 400m hurdles and took the bronze in a time of 66.30 seconds.
In the under 20 age group Leon Stubbs struck gold running 48.67 secs in the 400 metres. The final medal was won by 18-year-old Ed Coles running 15.18 secs. to take bronze.
