European Athletics Under 18 Championships, Jerusalem, 4-7 July 2022

Isaac Delaney of Preston Harriers was selected to represent Great Britain & Northern Ireland in the European Under 18 Championships, held in Jerusalem, and finished seventh in the shot put final with a throw of 18.20 in the third round. Reflecting on the competition, Delaney said: “My competition started poorly, but I managed to produce a throw in the third round that saw me progress to three further throws. I finished 7th, which is where I was seeded, so I can’t be too unhappy.”

English Schools Championships, SportCity, Manchester, 8-9 July 2022

Isaac was in action again at the prestigious English Schools Championships, where he won the U20 Men’s shot put competition with a throw of 15 metres 59 centimetres. Other winners from Preston Harriers were Scott Sinclair in the U20 Men’s Triple Jump, with a PB jump of 14 metres 86 centimetres and Libby Huxley, who won the U20 Women’s 3000m race in a pb of 9:42:62. Matthew Drummond Clark was 3rd in the U15 1500m with a PB of 4:05:55 and Myles Fraser placed 5th in the same race in 4:07:11, which was also a PB. Ethan Chadwick was 5th in the U15 800m in 2:02:70, and in the sprint events, Queenivette Nguta was 6th in the U17 100m (12:36) and Evie Noblet was also 6th in the U17 200m (25:60).
