Harriers round up August 16th – August 22nd

On Wednesday at Manchester international, Alex Bernstein won the men’s U20 hammer with a throw of 65.93.

Podium 5k returned on the Saturday (Aug 21st) with Joe Monk taking 8th place in the A race, in a very fine time of 14:29.

On the Sunday, three Harriers lined up at the Alderley Edge bypass 10K, with Carla Davis first of the trio to return home. Finishing in 36:34, which got her 4th place in the women’s category. Next in was Mark Lee in 37:16, followed by Alex Venables in 37:46.

With the autumn marathon season on the horizon, it is no surprise to see the big distance events returning and on Sunday the classic Trimple 20 was back. With Preston’s leading marathon runner Rob Affleek taking 7th place in a time of 2hr06. Chris Wilson (2hr33) and Shelley Audis (3hr55) also competed the event.

Finally, Steve Hallas turned back time at the British Master, taking 11th place in the 1500m in a new PB time of 4:46.

Elsewhere there was big news for Elsey Davis and former Harrier Nicola Jackson as the earned Team GB selection for the forth coming World Mountain and Trail Championships in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
