The weather may have been damp, but the racing was red hot at the Green Drive five mile road race at Lytham on Sunday. The race doubled as the Lancashire Championships, and the main contenders were soon battling it out at the head of the field. Preston Harriers’ Dan Bebbington achieved a convincing win in an excellent time of 24:41, with Wesham’s Rob Danson 2nd in 25:00 and Luke Minns from Blackpool, Wyre and Fylde AC 3rd in 25:11. Former Harrier David Rigby, now in the colours of Salford, was 5th in 26:06. Luke Suffolk had a great run to finish 8th in 28:09 and with 3rd counter Ross McKelvie finishing in 16th place in a time of 29:22, Preston Harriers were 2nd team behind Wesham. Other Harriers to be crowned Lancashire champion in their age group were David Parkinson (1st MV55), Cathy Flitcroft (1st FV55), Alan Littler (1st MV75) and Maureen Kirkby (1st FV65).
