Preston Harriers were represented in Birmingham for the British Athletics Championships and trials for the IAAF World Championships team. Jamaine Coleman came 10th in the 3,000m steeplechase in a time of 9.01.08 and Patrick Dever was 11th in the 1500m final in 3.51.56. Following her impressive defence of her Northern title, Becky Rigby finished 19th in the 5,000m in 17.06.03. Sam Miller had an outstanding run to finish 5th in the 200m in 20.90.
