Four Preston Harriers ventured south to tackle the Ashurst Beacon Trail Race near Parbold.
The 5.9 miles of rough terrain together with 951 feet of climb presented a tough challenge for all the athletes on what was a crisp, cold sunny day. First Harrier to cross the line was Vicki Sherrington, overcoming a barbed wire laceration to a finger, to finish 3rd L40 in a time of 62.21.
Next in was Phil Lakeland, 13th M55 with 64.34 followed by Ben Higginson, 66.06, 7th M60 and star of the show George Arnold in 87.18 for 1st M80.
