Sun 4 Feb 2018, Blackburn
What started off as a cold frosty winter’s morning soon turned to fairly ideal running conditions for the 13 harriers who headed east for the ever popular but tough going Blackburn winter warmer. In a repeat of the St Anne’s 10 miler Karl Hodgson was the first harrier to cross the line in a respectable 38 minutes, to take maximum points in the club championships. Next in was Ben Read (39mins) and then Neil McDonald (41mins) who becomes the first runner to complete three championship races maintaining his lead at the top of the male overall league and moving into first place in the male vet 50 category. Alison Rushton was the first of our female runners to complete the race, coming 15th overall in the women’s race and taking maximum championship points. Vicki Sherrington (52 mins) and Dorothy Parkes (53mins) where next in to fill the top three harriers female positions on the day. Other competing harries were Andrew Tranter, Alison Rushton, Alan Appleby (now joint top of the male vet 60 champs), Daniel Higgins, Andy Lea, Vicki Sherrington, Dorothy Parkes, Stephen Parkes, Judith Deakin (Now joint top of the female vet 60s champs) and Adam Fielder.
Next up is the first of our 5000 meter races the Central Lancashire 5k on February 18th and the Wrexham village bakery half marathon on February 25th. The latter of which is fast approaching 2,000 entries and will soon stop taking online registrations.
